our history
Channel Architects & Engineers was founded in 1987 by the visionary Muhammad Khalid, a seasoned Geological Engineer with a rich background in the construction industry. As part of the civil engineering teams at both Nassir Hazza & Brothers Co and McClelland Consulting Engineers, he honed his skills working on large-scale projects in Saudi Arabia. His contributions to building infrastructure, including, highways, oil refineries, airports and military factories, played a significant role in shaping the region’s landscape.
Driven by a desire to give back to his country, Muhammad Khalid returned to his hometown of Lahore, Pakistan, and established his own architectural, engineering, and construction company. His expertise and innovative thinking revolutionized the construction industry in Pakistan.
Muhammad Khalid was a pioneer in introducing concepts such as basement patios and roof gardens in the early 1990s Punjab, Pakistan. Before his groundbreaking ideas, basements were often relegated to storage rooms with minimal ventilation and small windows. By incorporating patios, he transformed basements into comfortable, livable spaces, complete with full windows and lush greenery.
Similarly, the introduction of roof gardens not only added aesthetic appeal but also offered a practical solution to the scorching heat of Lahore’s climate. The rooftop gardens provided natural insulation, cooling homes, and creating beautiful, eco-friendly spaces for residents to enjoy.
Through passion, dedication, and a commitment to excellence, Channel Architects & Engineers continues to uphold Muhammad Khalid’s legacy, transforming the built environment and enriching communities across Pakistan.
